Putt Putt Politics

Golf.gif Wednesday the US House of Representatives International Relations Committee (HIRC) passed the The United Nations Reform Act of 2005 out of committee by a minuscule 3 votes. It might have passed by “fore” votes but Indiana Rep. Dan Burton had more important matters to attend to. Where was Dan when this vital piece of legislation (described by some a well-designed legislative proposal that would tilt the U.N. away from secrecy, scandal, and corruption and towards transparency, accountability, and effectiveness“) was being voted on? Known as one of the House’s best golfers, and may be the sport’s most ardent champion on Capitol Hill,” Dan was at a pro-am golf tournament scheduled at the Congressional Country Club. Maybe if they would bring his pet legislation up for a vote (he twice introduced bills to change the tax status of caddies) they could get Dan in for one of these less important votes.

Maybe…..

Thanks to Wonkette for the heads up.
