As we speak, I’ve got “Girls, Girls, Girls” blasting in winamp. For you youngin’s on my journal… surprise… I’m OLD. Ever since I started hormones, it seems people take me as being younger than I am. But the dirty truth is that I am a child of the eighties. YES THE FUCKING EIGHTIES. (For those counting im ThirtYldajfljaSeveNsljaffh). Early high school days were spent headbanging to bands like Bon Jovi, Ratt, Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, Poison, and Van Halen (I would included AC/DC and Kiss…but then and now I think they suck ass). Wanna know what I looked like in those days?
Something close to this…

Heh..minus the wig. That’s a story for another time.
So… recently I was listening to Motley Crue and Ratt.. and I wondered WTF ever happened to those bands of my youth.
*edit: I’ve decided that I’m going to make this a monthy feature on my site…*
I went online and did a lil search and this is what I found…

RATT
Here’s a synopsis of what Stephen Pearcy, the lead singer, has been doing since Ratt broke up in 1991.
“Post RATT, Stephen began to explore other avenues including starting a new band called ARCADE in 1992 (with friend and former Cinderella drummer FRED COURY) that signed to EPIC Records. Throughout the next few years following ARCADE Stephen stayed busy releasing Before & Laughter on Triple X Records in 2000 and then finished putting together his own record label - Top Fuel Records.
2002 brought the release of his first solo album “SOCIAL INTERCOURSE” on his own Top Fuel Records label. Stephen’s second highly anticipated release of his new album “FUELER” has a street date of May 10th, 2005.
The first single from FUELER, “Drive With Me”, has been well received by his fans and the drag racing community, particularly as the new single is the theme song for The National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) weekly drag racing show on ESPN. This collaboration with ESPN & NHRA has also been brought to the track directly where the song, video and likeness of Stephen Pearcy is very prevalent on race days. Additional press & interviews about FUELER can be read or heard in the current Spin Magazine, the nationally broadcasted radio shows of Eddie Trunk, Opie & Anthony and on major market rock radio stations. Stephen will also fill in as the guest DJ on 106.7 The Drive in Detroit for the first full weekend in April”
First of all, I have to laugh at how much this fucker gives the “party sign” :

DUDE…ENOUGH WITH THE PARTY SIGN!!! Seriously, we used to make fun of the burn out stoners (like in the pic above of me… we gave the party sign as a mock of stoners) in high school. How old IS you?(He’s 48). When asked about the possible RATT reunion he said:
“Those two guys over there, DiMartini and Blotzer, had relieved me as the corporate director to get the Ratt name to tour. They could pay somebody else less to sing instead of paying my my third. In a nutshell, I made the proposal. It’s our 20th anniversary. I’m a business man. They were being very, very destructive with the corporation and the integrity of Ratt. Blotzer didn’t really write anything. Bottom line, I went in and made the proposal to get the original band members together.”
“People have to understand that it’s not all about money. It’s about business, it’s about happiness, it’s about life. It’s not about greed and jealousy. Life goes on. We lost one soldier to this rock ‘n roll war and we’ve got to march on. People will see some Ratt stuff. They’ll hear some things. DiMartini and Blotzer can pat themselves on the back for putting the nail in that coffin.”
Bwaaaaaaaah! *Points finger mockingly*
Lord…..
How hokey and corny… but in the day.. he was the shit… and cute…

Comments and trackbacks
I WAS A HEADBANGER IN THE 80s!
Yup, I remember going to the Tora Tora, Dangerous Toys, L.A. Guns show. Freakin’ loved it. I thought Bret Michaels was gonna pout himself to death easily by ‘91. I got into plenty of bands that now can be found on websites called “sleaze rock,” lol, of all things, which included bands like Roxx Gang, Bang Tango, Electric Angels, and more I can’t remember. Butch Walker is someone I still admire, and he’s quite busy. Enjoyed the Bulletboys - especially Mick Sweda (remember King Cobra?). Saw Megadeth, Metallica, Billy Idol, Cinderella (I heart Tom Kiefer’s makeup) - ohmigod, so many. Loved Ozzy and Lillian Axe. It’s so cool to know that you play on the web looking for updates on your favs from that time. I’ve been OD’ing on VH1 classic - I most recently saw The Cult’s “Love Removal Machine.”
